THE INFLUENCES OF LACTIC ACID BACTERIA (OM-X)
ON BONE STRUCTURE

Lactic acid bacteria OM-X we used in this research is a lactic acid bacteria product cultured with vegetable
fermentation. OM-X is a vegetable fermented substance with ideal ration of several kinds of amino acid, vitamin and
mineral, necessary for biometabolism.
From the experimental results, we confirmed significant differences in formation of bone density measurements and bone
ingredients between the groups with and without taking OM-X regardless of age and sex. This clarified that the supply
of OM-X gave influences on enterobacterial and improved the nutrient absorption from the intestine and the deposition
rate to the tissue. Markedly among female subjects, in comparison with the age unit under 40 and elderly, the bone
density measurements showed a higher tendency in the unit elderly with OM-X than in the unit under 40 with OM-X. This
is the result that OM-X gave beneficial action to elderly females who tend to give influences for hormone. This is the
reason female have greater influence in aging and likely become osteoporosis that male. However, in the groups taking
OM-X in this experiment, no tendency to become osteporosis was admitted in any sex or age units. Here we can say that
the hormone action as biofunction, nutrients absorption, dissolution and synthesis at intestinal activity and bone
deposition were conducted efficiency by taking lactic acid bacteria OM-X. On this point, the similar result is
confirmed on the volume of bone mineral content and the bone density measurements (g/cm2)
Judging from all above, the long-term intake of OM-X acts effectively to the formation of bone structure. But for bone
width measurements, no advantage was admitted between the groups with and without OM-X. This is a different result
from the influence on the volume of bone mineral content, the bone density measurements (g/cm) and the bone density
measurements (%) indicating that the growth of volume and formation of bone substance do not necessarily coincident.
That is, a tendency to the bone thickening showed greater in matured stage (when tissue metabolism is slower) than in
the youth (when tissue metabolism is slower) than in the youth (when tissue metabolism is active). The issue is on the
fulfilment of the bone width and bone substance (22,23,27). The bone density measurements will decline without
questions when the bone substance does not get along with the bone width. The decline of the bone structure will
weaken the frame which is supposed to be hard. And this decline in bone substance will developed to various kinds of
bone disorder at the end The way to stop the decline of bone substance lies on intestinal maintenance which conducts
nutrients absorption. For intestinal maintenance, we should promote enterobacterial activity. For enterobacterial
activity, we believe it is the best way to supply lactic acid bacteria which becomes nutrition for
enterobacterial. However, there exist various live bacteria in lactic acid bacteria. In those kinds of lactic acid
bacteria, its effect toward enterobacterial differ due to the kinds of the contained substance in live bacteria and
fermented bacteria. In OM-X that we used here, there exist various amino acid and mineral in favourable condition with
such reason. We think that OM-X is a lactic acid bacteria product containing appropriate factors on maintaining
environmental condition of enterobacterial. For the investigation and mechanism, we think it is necessary to clarify
repeating other kinds of experiments with comparison to animal lactic products.
